- Definition
- The word ethnicity is derived from the Greek word “ethnos”, meaning nation or people. Ethnic factors are factors relating to races or large populations grouped according to common traits and customs. Note that this definition gives ethnicity, by virtue of its cultural as well as genetic implications, a broader meaning than racial. Ethnic factors may be classified as either intrinsic or extrinsic.
