- Persons who have completed studies in pharmacy at university level (granted by adequate diploma) and who are licensed to practice pharmacy. They may be either salaried or self-employed pharmacists delivering services irrespectively of the place of service provision. Services provided by pharmacists include: preparing and directing the preparation of medicines according to prescriptions of medical and dental practitioners, or establish formulae; checking prescriptions to ensure that recommended dosages are not exceeded, and that instructions are understood by patients – or persons administering the medicines – and advising on possible medicine incompatibility; dispensing medicines in hospitals or selling them in pharmacies.
