- Parallel trade in medicines within the EU is a form of arbitrage in which medicine are purchased in one Member State, typically where income levels are relatively low, and sold into other Member States, where income levels and hence prices are higher (although there are exceptions to this, when high prices are being charged in lower income Member States).
