Raw material from a biological source which is intended to be used in the fabrication of a drug and from which the active ingredient is derived either directly (eg., plasma derivatives, ascitic fluid, bovine lung, etc.) or indirectly (eg., cell substrates, host/vector production cells, eggs, viral strains etc.).
