- Definition
- An entity that contains data/information. A content object itself can be made up of different content objects. For example, a journal is a content object made up of individual journal articles, which can each be a content object. The text, figures and photographs included in a journal article can also be separate content objects. Paintings, sculpture, maps, photographs, and other non-textual objects are also content objects. The metadata for a content object can itself be a content object.
