- Definition
- In some countries, there may be different maximum mark-ups for different price bands: this is called a ‘regressive mark-up’ and means that the mark-up decreases as the price of the medicine increases. In countries where prices are not regulated or where regulations are not enforced, there might be great variation in retail mark-ups. If medicines are sold in the informal sector (medicine outlets), price variations can be even greater.
