- Definition
- Based on the idea that if only one out of two possible outcomes can occur on any one occasion, then the theoretical distribution of the different combinations of outcomes which could occur can be worked out if the number of occasions that had taken place is known. One characteristic of this distribution is that it consists of a limited or finite number of events n. When n becomes very large, tending to infinite, the binomial distribution becomes the normal distribution.
